Purpose of the Program The main driver of AEP's Supplier Diversity program is to increase the number of minority and women-owned business partnerships in our procurement of products and services.

For many years, our company has partnered with a diverse group of suppliers that consistently provide the products and services needed for our employees to meet the needs of our customers. Our plan is to continue these alliances and ensure that the policies, procedures and programs are in place to provide an equal opportunity for all companies that want to do business with us. Working together, we can accomplish a lot. Certification Requirements

To be eligible to participate in AEP's Supplier Diversity Program, a company must be certified as at least one of the following:

  • Woman-Owned Business - A company that is at least 51% owned, managed and controlled by one or more women or, in the case of publicity owned business, at least 51% of stock owned by one or more women.
  • Minority-Owned Business - A company that is at least 51% owned, managed and controlled by one or more minority persons.
  • Listed as a Small Business Administration (SBA) HUBZone
  • SBA Disabled Veteran

Program participation requires all businesses provide proof of certification through one of the following:

  • Small Business Administration
  • Certifying local, state or federal agency
  • A qualified agency

You will be asked to provide copies of certifications as part of AEP's New Supplier Registration.
