Indiana Michigan Power Contributions

Dear Friends:

Every day Indiana Michigan Power employees generate and deliver the electricity that is essential to quality of life for more than 582,000 customers in Indiana and Michigan. In addition to providing reliable electric service, I&M believes it is important to support the communities where our customers and employees live and work. I&M’s support of non-profit organizations and activities benefits thousands of people who depend on life-saving research or need access to basic human services. We also support the arts and environmental projects and are active in local economic development efforts. Our financial support of worthy causes complements the thousands of volunteer hours that I&M employees devote to numerous organizations.

Education is always a focus for I&M. We offer scholarships to higher education institutions and partner with organizations where elementary school children are taught the skills they need to succeed, including lessons about electricity and safety. Each summer since 1995, we have sponsored teacher workshops to explain recent developments in energy, economics and the environment.

In 2009, I&M sponsored requests to the American Electric Power Foundation that resulted in grant awards to The Friends of Lincoln Collection in Indiana, Habitat for Humanity, the Fort Wayne Museum of Modern Art, Ball State University, and the Renaissance Pointe YMCA. These projects will all contribute to the economic vitality of the overall region.

The links below provide a list of programs and organizations from across our service territory that I&M supported in 2009 with contributions of at least $500. We are proud to partner with these and many other community initiatives that promote high quality of life and that strengthen the communities where we live and work.
