Southwestern Electric Power Company Contributions

Dear Friends:

We at SWEPCO take seriously our commitment to bring safe, reliable and affordable electric power to our 473,500 customers. That’s how we measure our success.

We also understand that our success goes hand-in-hand with that of the communities we serve. We live and work here too, and our employees are a part of the fabric of everyday life. We support strong communities, and partner with many organizations to help families, build leaders and inspire young people.

In 2009 SWEPCO shareholders contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants and sponsorships to a variety of organizations and institutions in Louisiana, East Texas and Arkansas. The recipients provide a wide range of services in areas like education, the environment, health and safety, hunger, housing and other human services, economic development and the arts.

In Louisiana, one of these organizations is the Shreveport-Bossier Military Affairs Council, a civilian organization linking the community and Barksdale Air Force Base. The Council’s charter is to support and promote the men and women at Barksdale. They help sponsor events such as the annual air show and the Celebrate Barksdale picnic, both tributes to the men and women serving our country.

In East Texas, among of the organizations we support is the Northeast Texas Child Advocacy Center (NETCAC). Their mission of breaking the cycle of abuse, one child at a time, is accomplished through a number of programs and parenting classes aimed at keeping children safe.

In Arkansas, one of the organizations we support is the Illinois River Watershed Partnership. They are working to preserve, protect and restore the Illinois River Watershed through public education, community outreach and demonstration projects. Watershed management is important in addressing water quality issues which affect us all.

SWEPCO proudly supports these and other initiatives that make our communities better places to live and work for all of us.
