Teaching Environmental Sciences

Course description This is an environmental education graduate course for K-8 teachers (offered to teachers of grades 7-12 at Texas A&M Corpus Christi), emphasizing the importance of understanding air, water and waste issues which affect their community's environmental and economic health. Designed to provide balanced information and promote partnerships among teachers, government agencies, business and community organizations while identifying local environmental concerns and increasing awareness of resources available to teachers. Includes site visits, hands-on activities and field trips.
Who Texas teachers grades K-8 (grades 7-12 at Texas A&M Corpus Christi)
Credits 3 hours graduate credit, 40 hours of Continuing Professional Education Credit and 45 hours required for Certificate of Recognition from the Texas Environmental Education Advisory Committee, all courtesy of TCEQ, AEP and other sponsors.
When 10 days of activities and presentations, typically 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where Workshops will be held at participating universities in Texas.
Workshop project Develop original lesson plans, games or Web pages on air, water, waste or pollution prevention.
Course number Will be provided upon acceptance.
Cost Non-refundable registration fee varying by location, usually less than $50. Check with workshop director at sponsoring university.
