The Wilds - Managing Global Wildlife for Future Generations – Session II
Dates June 24 - 25, 2008
Sponsors Co-sponsored by the Wilds, Muskingum College and AEP's AEP Ohio operating unit
Course description Follow up on the initial three-day workshop for a more in-depth look at the Wilds, North America's largest conservation, education and research center. The Wilds is located amid rolling grasslands, acres of wetlands and more than 150 lakes, and is situated on nearly 10,000 acres of former mine land reclaimed and donated by AEP. This workshop will be a deeper experience involving interaction with staff and participating in conservation activities on topics of restoration ecology, field conservation, conservation medicine and animal management in an Ohio setting. Also hear from AEP representatives about industry issues relating to energy and the environment.

Educators will also have time to develop plans for implementing these activities into their classroom curriculum, network with others, and learn first-hand about local and global wildlife conservation. Note that this course will include hiking and other physical activities.
