Course description |
A fun and informative workshop to train teachers to creatively integrate economic, energy, and environmental concepts and issues into the K-12 curriculum. This course provides three credit hours of graduate training to K-12 teachers. Its purpose is: 1) to provide a basic literacy of fundamental economic concepts and energy and environmental issues and 2) to develop methods to integrate economics – particularly related to energy and the environment – into the K-12 curriculum in order to achieve Indiana’s academic standards and enhance student learning. The course focuses on basic economic concepts; the production, distribution, and use of energy; government regulation and public policy; pollution and other environmental issues; local waterways; and creative methods for integrating economics and environmental issues into the K-12 curriculum. This course draws on the expertise of guest speakers from education, industry, government and nonprofit organizations.
