Energy Sources Tour Workshops
Dates July 27 - 28, 2010 starting in Athens
Sponsors Co-sponsored by AEP’s AEP Ohio operating unit, Ohio Energy Project, Ohio Fuel Cell Corridor, Ohio Rural Electric Cooperatives, Ohio Propane Education and Research Council, Ohio Farm Bureau Federation and Honda of America.
Course description Teachers will spend two days visiting Ohio energy sites demonstrating various energy sources, electricity generation, alternative energy and energy conservation. Participants will receive a free kit of curriculum, equipment and materials to incorporate energy education into their classroom.
Who Ohio science teachers grades 5 - 12
Credits 10 contact hours for CEU credits.
When Sessions approximately 7 - 9 p.m. July 27 and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 28.
Where Ohio University research facilities including hydrogen and green fuels lab, and a coal surface mine in southeastern Ohio.
Workshop project Participants document how they will use the knowledge gained from the tour to teach others about energy.
Course number None
Cost $50 deposit payable to "Ohio Energy Project" upon acceptance. The full deposit will be refunded at the completion of the Energy Sources Blitz.
Class size 30 - 35 teachers
Lodging Food, lodging, charter bus transportation and materials during the tour are available to eligible participants.
Application deadline The registration application for the Energy Sources Blitz will be posted on the Ohio Energy Project website -- www.ohioenergy.org. Applications will be accepted until the Blitz is full.
