Course description
|
Teachers will spend three days visiting Ohio energy sites demonstrating various energy sources, electricity generation, alternative energy and energy conservation. Participants will receive a free kit of curriculum, equipment and materials to incorporate energy education into their classroom.

|
Ohio science teachers grades 5 - 12
|

Credits
|
25 contact hours for CEU credits. Two semester hours graduate credit (at the participant's expense) will be available from Ashland University.

When
|
Sessions approximately 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Food and lodging are included with the program.
|
|
Where
|
Energy sites around central Ohio including a coal-burning power plant, renewable energy sites, and energy research labs at The Ohio State University.
|
|
Workshop project
|
Participants document how they will use the knowledge gained from the tour to teach others about energy.
|
|
Course number
|
Will be given after acceptance to the tour.
|

Cost
|
$100 deposit payable to "Ohio Energy Project" upon acceptance. The full
deposit will be refunded at the completion of the Energy Sources Tour. Two semester hours of graduate credit will be available from Ashland University at the participant's expense.

30 - 35 teachers

Lodging
|
Food, lodging, charter bus transportation and materials during the tour are available to eligible participants.

Application deadline
|
The registration application for the Energy Sources Tour will be posted on the Ohio Energy Project website beginning Feb. 1, 2012 at www.ohioenergy.org. Applications will be accepted until March 23, 2012 or until the workshop is full.
