Explanation of terms: The 'Forebay' and 'Tailwater' numbers show the elevation, in feet above sea level, of the water levels just upstream and downstream of the plants. 'Tailwater Flow' is the hourly average of the river flow just downstream of the plants, measured in cubic feet per second.

THE LONDON TAILRACE FISHING ACCESS HAS BEEN REOPENED. PUBLIC ACCESS IS NOW AVAILABLE AT THE RAILROAD CROSSING LOCATED 1 MILE UPSTREAM OF THE DAM OFF WV HWY 61.
APPALACHIAN POWER OPERATES CLAYTOR HYDRO IN LEVELIZED "RUN OF RIVER" RELEASE FROM APRIL 1ST TO NOVEMBER 30TH AND IN PEAKING MODE FROM DECEMBER 1ST TO MARCH 31ST. FOR WEDNESDAY 10, 2013, CURRENTLY GENERATING WITH TWO UNITS, ESTIMATED HOURLY DISCHARGE IS 3950 CFS.
AS OF 05:00 THIS MORNING WEDNESDAY APRIL 10, 2013, INFLOW TO THE SMITH MOUNTAIN PROJECT WAS 1905 AND THE DISCHARGE FROM LEESVILLE 1655 .THE ADJUSTED RESERVOIR ELEVATION WAS 795.29'. THE FLOW RATE AT THE USGS GAUGE AT BROOKNEAL WAS 2670 CFS, STAGE 6.29' AND AT ALTAVISTA 2100 CFS, STAGE 4.78'.
