Forest protection and reforestation not only help AEP to offset greenhouse gas emissions,
but also serve as a centerpiece to the company’s commitment to conservation
and stewardship.
Efficient forestry and land use practices can significantly offset greenhouse gas
emissions. Trees, via photosynthesis, take carbon dioxide out of the air and sequester
it in living plant tissue creating a “carbon sink”. AEP is attempting
to increase carbon sinks, thus offset greenhouse gas emissions, by planting trees
and preserving forests. As a result, the company is involved in the following projects.
