While AEP’s commitment to the environment is fundamentally rooted in a sense of social responsibility to our stakeholders, the company is pleased when it receives recognition for environmental activities and achievements. External validation helps spread information about best practices throughout the private, public, and non-profit sectors, and to set standards for environmental commitment that will raise the level of environmental performance across society.

 

2006

• AEP Kentucky Coal received one of only three "Good Neighbor" awards presented annually by the federal Office of Surface Mining. AEP Kentucky Coal also received an award from the Kentucky Department of Mining Reclamation and Enforcement for its reclamation efforts.
• Corporate Award winner, 30th annual Arbor Day banquet by Up With Trees – Public Service Company of Oklahoma
• Top score among utilities in Ceres report, “Corporate Governance and Climate Change: Making the Connection.”

• 2005 Corporate Achievement Award from National Wild Turkey Federation for Wheelin' Sportsmen
• 2005 EPA Climate Protection Award for greenhouse gas reductions
