TULSA, Okla., May 14, 2008
– Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO), a subsidiary of American Electric Power (NYSE: AEP), has issued a request for proposals (RFP) seeking 450 to 600 megawatts (MW) of new generation resources to meet increases in customer demand for electricity. The new resources are to be available beginning in 2012.
The resources selected from this RFP will fulfill a portion of PSO’s energy requirements consistent with the Company’s Spring 2008 Integrated Resource Plan and is in line with the findings recognized by the Oklahoma Corporation Commission (OCC) in its final order in Cause No. 200600030, wherein the Commission found that PSO has a need for 450 MW of additional baseload generation in or around 2012.
Stakeholders and potential bidders are encouraged to review the draft RFP and provide comments back to PSO no later than June 9. A pre-bid conference will be conducted July 14, with proposals to be submitted by August 22.
