At 4:16 a.m. Sunday, reactor operator Tim Brown closed the breaker and connected the electrical output of the generator to the AEP transmission grid. The reactor was operating at 9 percent power, and will begin a carefully controlled ascension to full power over the next five to seven days.

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Jan. 25, 2000 – American Electric Power Company (NYSE:AEP) today reported net income for the year ended Dec. 31, 1999, of $520 million, or $2.69 per share, compared with $536 million, or $2.81 per share in 1998.
