Kentucky Power, an operating unit of American Electric Power, has renewed wholesale power supply agreements with municipal utilities serving the towns of Vanceburg and Olive Hill, Kentucky. Pending approval by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), the 20-year agreements will take effect in January.

American Electric Power today increased its ongoing earnings guidance range for 2005 to between $2.65 and $2.75 per share from the previous range of between $2.55 and $2.65 per share. The increase in guidance is due to continued favorable weather conditions and strong performance in wholesale markets.

American Electric Power, through its Appalachian Power utility subsidiary, today completed its purchase of the 505-megawatt Ceredo Generating Station in West Virginia from a subsidiary of Reliant Energy for approximately $100 million.

American Electric Power has signed 18 multi-year wholesale power supply agreements with municipal utilities in Ohio and Texas. In Ohio, AEP extended wholesale supply agreements with members of the Ohio Municipal Energy Group (OMEG), which includes 16 municipal utilities. In Texas, AEP signed contracts to provide wholesale power to the Cities of Weatherford and Seymour.

American Electric Power submitted data about the emissions performance of its generating units during the 2005 ozone season to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Nov. 29 indicating that its nitrogen oxides (NOX)-reducing selective catalytic reduction (SCR) equipment is performing better than designed to help improve air quality during the ozone season. AEP submits NOX emission data to the EPA as a participant in the EPA’s NOX Budget Trading Program.

American Electric Power and its operating company Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) have signed a twenty-five year wholesale power supply agreement with the Hope Water and Light Commission of Hope, Ark. According to the terms of the contract, SWEPCO will continue to supply power to meet Hope´s electrical load when the current contract between them expires at the end of 2007.

Indiana Michigan Power (I&M), an operating company of American Electric Power, has entered into a 20-year agreement with the Indiana Municipal Power Agency (IMPA) to provide 150 megawatts (MW) of wholesale power to the agency to serve its member municipalities of Anderson, Columbia City, Frankton and Richmond, Ind. The agreement, upon approval by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), will take effect Jan. 1, 2006.

American Electric Power has signed an agreement with GE Energy and Bechtel Corporation to begin the front-end engineering design process for a commercial-scale, Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) clean-coal plant in the 600-megawatt range. This will be the first such engineering and design agreement undertaken for an IGCC plant of this scale.

BRIDGMAN, Mich., Aug. 30, 2005 – The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) today approved the renewal of operating licenses for the two generating units at American Electric Power’s (NYSE:AEP) Cook Nuclear Plant in Bridgman, Mich. The operating license for Cook Unit 1 was renewed until 2034 and for Cook Unit 2 until 2037.

BRIDGMAN, Mich., Feb. 23, 2005 - American Electric Power (NYSE: AEP) plans to replace the three low-pressure turbine rotors on Cook Nuclear Plant Unit 1 during the fall 2006 refueling outage. The aerodynamic design of the new rotors is expected to increase the electrical output by an estimated 41 megawatts (MW) as well as prevent blade cracking, which has been a problem at some facilities. Total project cost to replace the rotors is approximately $45 million.

American Electric Power (NYSE: AEP) today closed the sale of controlling interest in Houston Pipe Line Co. to Energy Transfer Partners, LP (ETP). According to the terms of the transaction, ETP purchased 98 percent of the partnership interests in Houston Pipeline Co. (HPL) for $825 million and also purchased 30 billion cubic feet (Bcf) of working gas and working capital, for a total consideration of approximately $1 billion. AEP will retain a 2 percent ownership interest in the HPL partnership interests and will provide certain transitional administrative services.
