The Wilds is North America's largest wildlife conservation and research center,
dedicated to preserving endangered world wildlife. The land for this nine thousand
acre preserve was donated by AEP after it was reclaimed in the wake of coal mining.

Not far from ReCreation Land are two other day-use areas reclaimed by AEP. The Avondale
Wildlife Area is five miles southwest of Zanesville. Conesville Coal Lands are five
miles southeast of Coshocton. Both are shown on the ReCreation Lands map available
from AEP Land Management.
Burr Oak State Park surrounds Burr Oak Lake, a seven-mile lake with a lodge, cabins,
swimming, fishing, hiking, camping and horseback riding.
Wolf Creek Wildlife Area is a designated public hunting and fishing area southwest
of McConnelsville, OH. This is one of only three areas in Ohio where primitive weapons
hunting is permitted (last week in October).
For 1200 miles, the Buckeye
Trail winds around Ohio, reaching into every corner of the state. From a beachhead
on Lake Erie near Cleveland, to a hilltop overlooking the Ohio River in Cincinnati,
a hiker can experience a little of all that Ohio has to offer. (www.buckeyetrail.org)
CAS is central Ohio's largest and oldest organization dedicated to the amateur study
of astronomy. (www.the-cas.org/)
ODNR is dedicated to conserving and improving
the fish and wildlife resources and their habitats, and promoting their use and
appreciation by the public so that these resources continue to enhance the quality
of life for all Ohioans. (www.dnr.state.oh.us/odnr/wildlife/)
