Southwestern Electric Power Company

Dear Friends,

At Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO), our commitment to the communities we serve extends beyond our mission to provide safe, reliable and affordable energy. We believe in being part of the community.

Our employees have donated thousands of hours to countless organizations and community programs. SWEPCO and our parent company, American Electric Power, strive to make an impact by helping to fund organizations and programs that improve education, feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, care for our environment, grow our communities and much more.

For example in Northwest Arkansas in 2018 SWEPCO supported the Morning Star Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. Operator Lynn Sciumbato has decades of experience rehabilitating raptors, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians. Ms. Sciumbato is well known for the programs she presents at parks and schools throughout the area.

In Louisiana, SWEPCO sponsored free admission to the Red River Revel Arts Festival for members of the military and first responders. This is one way to thank the more than 15,000 active-duty and Air Force Reserve members based at Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City. The nine-day festival also provides fundraising opportunities for local nonprofits and community groups.

Another example is Northeast Texas Habitat for Humanity’s repair program for military veterans also supported by SWEPCO. The program focuses on critical repairs to the owner-occupied homes of veterans – roofs and floors and making the home handicapped accessible.

We’re pleased to share the following report that highlights how SWEPCO and its employees give back to the communities in which they live and work. And, we’re thankful for the privilege to work alongside you today as we light the way for a brighter tomorrow.

Sincerely,

Malcolm Smoak
President and COO
SWEPCO
