Dear SWEPCO customers,
Providing power is our priority, and we work every day to make sure communities in Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas receive the safest, most reliable and affordable energy service. One way we show our appreciation for customers is through community service and partnerships.
Hundreds of SWEPCO employees generously share their knowledge, time and effort to support many different organizations, and in 2017, SWEPCO investors and shareholders supported hundreds of organizations, agencies and causes. Whether it was supporting programs for those impacted by Alzheimer’s, providing the opportunity for thousands of students to enroll in swim lessons, or sparking the curiosity of high school students through robotics programming, SWEPCO was proud to contribute financial support to organizations that are doing incredible work.
This report includes a list of some of the agencies that received contributions from SWEPCO and our parent company, American Electric Power.
The Booneville High School Robotics Team was one of our beneficiaries in 2017. They received a grant to participate in the FIRST Robotics program whose mission is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders and innovators by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering, and technology skills, inspire innovation and foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication and leadership
The YMCA of Northwest Louisiana was one of our beneficiaries in 2017. The YMCA is very community centered, listening and responding to those in the community, connecting people of all ages and backgrounds to bridge the gaps in community needs. One of the programs provided by the YMCA is the “Swim For Life” program that provided the opportunity for every 2nd grader enrolled in Caddo Parish Public Schools to participate in a four-day water safety and swim survival skills program.
The East Texas Alzheimer’s Alliance (ETAA) was one of our beneficiaries in 2017. The ETAA was founded in February 2017 by a group of individuals comprised of doctors, lawyers, caregivers, hospice and long-term care who saw a need in the community for local services serving individuals and families in the East Texas area. The purpose of the East Texas Alzheimer's Alliance is to provide local support and assistance to the many East Texans suffering from or impacted by Alzheimer's.
Agencies and non-profits in our community do so much to help our citizens. At SWEPCO, supporting the neighborhoods and communities where we live and work are a top priority. We may be a power company, but our true power in our communities comes from our people.
