For some military veterans, everyday necessities like soap, shampoo and toothpaste are not always easy to access. To help, employees of Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) donated hundreds of hygiene items, while the I&M Foundation provided a grant to support Clothes for Joes, a Fort Wayne nonprofit that serves veterans in need.
Members of I&M's Military Veterans Employee Resource Group (MVERG) organized the company's third annual donation drive for Clothes for Joes. Employees across the company donated hygiene products and other essentials, while volunteers helped sort, organize and deliver the items.
"It says volumes about I&M and how much they care about our community," said Andrew Messmer, executive director for Clothes for Joes. "This is a true testament to I&M's commitment to giving back and supporting veterans."
Together, employee donations, volunteer service and the I&M Foundation's support are helping ensure that veterans know their community stands beside them.
"It's inspiring to see so many employees rally behind a cause that supports fellow veterans," said Alexa Roskowski, I&M External Affairs manager.
