Interim President, Nuclear Development

Paul Caudill is interim president, Nuclear Development, for American Electric Power and is responsible for leading the company’s nuclear generation strategy and growth.

Caudill has over 45 years of experience in the energy industry and has held several executive leadership roles, most recently including interim president and chief executive officer of Centuri Inc., a publicly traded infrastructure services company. He served as senior advisor to the CEO at Centuri and was on the company’s advisory board prior to his appointment as interim president and CEO.

Before his role at Centuri, Caudill was president and chief executive officer of NV Energy, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Energy (BHE), for more than seven years. In this role, he achieved numerous safety, customer service, employee, operational, regulatory and financial milestones.

Prior to NV Energy, Caudill led BHE’s MidAmerican Solar, LLC, a startup, competitive renewable energy venture. He oversaw nearly $6 billion of investment in development, construction and operation of two of the world’s largest, grid-tied solar photovoltaic power plants. 

Caudill began his career with Bechtel Power Corporation in commercial nuclear power plant construction and commissioning. He transitioned to a role in nuclear power plant outage management with Bechtel, which led to work in commercial plant operations and support services.

In 2002, while working at the Cooper Nuclear Station for Nebraska Public District, he returned to school at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Graduate Management to earn a master’s degree in business. Caudill was selected by his 70 Kellogg classmates as student graduation speaker. Caudill received his bachelor’s degree in public management from the University of Arizona. 

He has served on numerous industry and non-profit boards, including Centuri Group Inc., BrightNight Power, Nevada Military Support Alliance and several utility company boards. Caudill currently serves on the boards of Cyrq Energy and Dynagrid for Macquarie Asset Management.
