Bruce Evans is president and chief operating officer of AEP Texas. As president he oversees distribution operations serving more than a million electric customers in central and north Texas as well as the operating unit’s safety, customer services, marketing, communications, community affairs, governmental affairs, and regulatory functions.

Previously, he was vice president of Distribution Operations for AEP Texas since 2012 when he rejoined the company. Evans spent the first 21 years of his career at West Texas Utilities, Central Power and Light Company, Central and South West and American Electric Power.

After leaving AEP in 2000 as vice president of Energy Services, Evans served stints with Texas retail electric provider Cirro Energy, Deloitte Consulting, North Star Strategic Management Consulting and was vice president - Demand Management for Nexant Inc. in Houston, Texas. From 1979 until 2000, Evans held a wide array of positions in the Central and South West system, including auditor and district manager for WTU, executive assistant to the COO at CSW, president of CSW Services, president of Central Power Light Company and vice president of Customer Relations at CSW. Evans holds a BBA in Finance from Hardin Simmons University in Abilene and an MBA in Finance from Dallas Baptist University. He attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University. Evans and his wife, Kim, have two children and three grandchildren.
