President and COO AEP Ohio

Marc Reitter is president and chief operating officer of AEP Ohio, a role to which he was named in 2021. 

He is responsible for all aspects of safely providing reliable, affordable electric service to AEP Ohio’s 1.5 million customers and leads more than 1,500 employees in building a smarter energy infrastructure, delivering new technologies and providing custom energy solutions to customers. Reitter also is responsible for American Electric Power’s enterprise-wide customer operations organization. In total, Reitter leads approximately 2,200 employees who support customers and power communities each day. 

Since joining AEP in 2002, Reitter has held leadership positions in AEP’s finance organization, strategic initiatives group and in utility group business services, where he assisted in business development opportunities. Most recently he was vice president of regulatory and finance for AEP Ohio, a position he assumed in May 2016. 

Reitter earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Arizona State University and a Master of Business Administration from the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University. An Ohio native, Reitter serves on the boards of Foundation for Appalachian Ohio, One Columbus, Nationwide Children’s Hospital Champions of the Community and Downtown Columbus, Inc.
