Job Summary

The Tax Analyst Job Family is responsible for preparing and reviewing state and local transaction tax and property tax (non-income) returns, reports, estimates, work papers, and analyses. They will be preparing and reviewing non-income tax schedules for financial reports, forecasts, regulatory filings, and special studies.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Prepare/review analyses and work papers to support monthly recording and reporting of non-income tax accruals, including the reconciliation of tax accrual accounts.

  • Actively participate in continuous process improvement initiatives, including the utilization of technology tools such as Power BI, Power Query, Alteryx, etc.

  • Monitor non-income tax legislative, administrative, and judicial developments across the U.S. and ascertain how proposed and enacted changes will affect the company.

  • Conduct and/or supervise tax research and planning related to business activities and identify tax risks.

  • Work closely with business to understand new product initiatives and advise on the applicability of non-income tax laws.

  • Research tax issues/questions and prepare written analysis and conclusions.

  • Participate in the federal, state and local tax audit process including the preparation and review of responses to auditors' questions, and review and prepare responses to audit assessments.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Tax Analyst

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree.

Work Experience:

  • One (1) year of total work experience in business, finance, or accounting disciplines with a minimum of one (1) year experience in tax functions.

Tax Analyst Senior

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree.

Work Experience:

  • Three (3) years' of total work experience in business, finance, or accounting disciplines with a minimum of one (1) year experience in tax functions.

Tax Analyst Principal

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree.

Work Experience:

  • Five (5) years' of total work experience in business, finance, or accounting disciplines with a minimum of three (3) years' experience in tax functions.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Required License(s)/Certification(s) are listed below: Professional certification (CPA, CMA, CIA) or Graduate Business Degree preferred.

  • Software: Vertex and PeopleSoft

  • Working knowledge of data analytics (Power BI, Power Query, Alteryx, etc.)

  • Strong attention to detail, well developed analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to build relationships with customers and team members.

  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills

  • Physical demand level is Sedentary

Compensation: Hired based off skill set and years of experience.

  • Tax Analyst (Grade5): $61,647 - $77,057
  • Tax Analyst Senior (Grade 7): $85,081 - $106,354
  • Tax Analyst Principal (Grade 8): $96,110 - $124,941
