Job Summary
Under semi-direct supervision, be responsible for material accountability (receive, identify, inspect, cycle count, record), unloading and/or shipping materials and supplies in the operation of the RDC and storage yards. What You’ll Do:
We are seeking talented and motivated Material Handler B-A to become an integral part of AEP Ohio.
Issue material under proper authorization; process and file required records which may include picking up, hauling and delivering materials and operating Company automotive equipment such as cars and trucks.
Check received material for quantity; make visual inspection for identity, breakage, and condition; unload and put away, initiate and process material receipt and related records.
Report irregularities and abnormal conditions. Identify, sort and record material returned; place usable material in stock, and sort non-usable material into scrap containers; record applicable information and process related records.
Assist with the processing of order picks for satellite storeroom served and completing related records. Operate computer terminals and printers supporting a materials management system, and other office equipment such as calculators, scanners etc.
Prepare and pack material for shipment or storage, including preparation of required shipping papers and other related records. This may include shipping and receiving hazardous material, such as gasoline, oil, oil containing PCB, and lead-acid batteries under required safety and environmental procedures.
Operate material handling equipment such as hand trucks, forklift trucks, low lift trucks, hoists, overhead cranes, order pickers, or any other equipment as required.
Assist in maintaining efficient storage of materials, rearrange or change of bins and racks, and make material location changes.
Assist in maintaining adequate inventory levels based on current requirements through inventory cycle counts; perform discrepancy adjustments with appropriate approval and process all associated records.
Assist employees of equal or higher classification. Perform similar or less skilled work. Perform duties in accordance with Company safety rules, operating regulations, and practice.

Travel in assigned territory.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Capable of walking long distances and or climbing steep terrain.
Capable of utilizing all distribution electronic mapping and easement imaging systems.
Strong computer skills.
What You’ll Get:
Material Handler B (U032-160) - $26.60 - $31.84 per hour
Education Requirements: High School Diploma or GED
Work Experience listed below:
A minimum of one year work experience in inventory control and management, material handling, warehousing, or related experience is required.
Must be able to safely lift up to 70 pounds; successful completion of the Physical Ability Test (PAT) is required.
Must possess the appropriate State drive license. If a Commercial Drive License (CDL) is required, the incumbent must obtain the CDL within six months of entry into this job classification or vacate the current job classification.
Must be able to operate material handling equipment including motorized forklifts and road vehicles.
Required License(s)/Certification(s) are listed below:
Must meet all vehicle operation requirement as designated by federal and/or state law. In addition, must have a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
If a Crane Certification is required, the incumbent must obtain the Crane Certification within 1 year after obtaining the CDL and within 2 attempts or vacate the current job classification. In addition, the incumbent must periodically be recertified as required by the regulations and in the timeframe determined by the company. Must acquire within such time frame as determined by the company, the qualifications necessary to perform the duties of the next higher classification in the line of progression or vacate the current job classification.
Material Handler A (U032-105) - $33.38 - $35.26 per hour
Education requirements: High School Diploma or GED
Work Experience requirement: Must have satisfactorily performed the duties of Material Handler B for a minimum of 24 months
Required License(s)/Certification(s): Must meet all vehicle operation requirement as designated by federal and/or state law. In addition, must have a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
Other Requirements:
A Physical Ability Test (PAT) test is required
Must be able to operate stores material handling equipment and road vehicles
Must have a good working knowledge of all Material Services instructions and procedures as they apply to regular job responsibilities and must qualify through demonstration and a written examination
Demonstrate the ability to train, instruct and direct other employees
Must have demonstrated the ability to keep neat, concise and accurate records
Physical Demands: Must be able to safely lift and handle materials and equipment weighing up to 70 pounds.

$26.60-29.22 USDThe Physical Demand Level for this job is: H – Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10-20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.
