Job Summary
Part of a larger team delivering Transmission Engineering technology solutions that enable planning, design, construction, and maintenance of the transmission grid. This role focuses on translating engineering and business requirements into fit‑for‑purpose solution architectures, including application, integration, data, and infrastructure considerations, along with non‑functional requirements such as resiliency, performance, security, and regulatory compliance.The Architect serves as the technical authority for Transmission Engineering solutions, ensuring designs align with approved architecture patterns, cybersecurity requirements, regulatory obligations, and the organization’s transmission modernization strategy—without assuming enterprise‑wide platform ownership.
Job Description
What You’ll Do- Design and deliver end‑to‑end solution architectures that support Transmission Engineering business capabilities and workflows.
- Partner closely with Transmission Engineering stakeholders to:
- Clarify business needs, constraints, and operational realities
- Identify pain points across engineering tools, integrations, and data flows
- Translate business and engineering requirements into architectural solutions, including:
- Application and tool architecture
- Integration patterns between engineering systems and upstream/downstream platforms
- Data architecture and information flows
- Develop and present architectural options, including trade‑offs, risks, and recommendations, leveraging:
- Standard reference architectures
- Approved design patterns and technology standards
- Ensure solution designs comply with:
- Cybersecurity and resiliency requirements
- Regulatory and audit obligations relevant to Transmission Engineering environments
- Produce and maintain architectural deliverables independently, including:
- Solution diagrams and design artifacts
- Technical guidance for delivery teams
- Work closely with portfolio and enterprise architecture teams to ensure:
- Alignment with broader standards and approved platforms
- Practical application within Transmission Engineering use cases
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to delivery teams and engineers, influencing solution quality and long‑term sustainability.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (required).
- 6+ years of relevant experience in software development, solution architecture, or systems design.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Prior hands‑on experience as a software developer or engineer.
- Experience designing and supporting solutions for engineering or operational technology domains preferred.
- Strong understanding of:
- Application and integration architecture patterns
- Data movement, validation, and system interoperability
- Non‑functional requirements (availability, performance, security, supportability)
- Demonstrated ability to:
- Translate domain‑specific business needs into technical designs
- Balance delivery speed with technical risk, compliance, and maintainability
- Experience working in regulated or compliance‑driven environments is highly desirable.

$98,993.00 - $128,688.00The Physical Demand Level for this job is: S – Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (Occasionally: activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently. (Frequently: activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
