June 30 marked an exciting and important milestone: The Green Country Power Plant officially became part of the Public Service Company of Oklahoma’s generation portfolio. With the Oklahoma Corporation Commission’s approval, PSO completed the acquisition and assumed full operational control of the 795-megawatt natural gas facility in Jenks.
This achievement is more than just a strategic investment, it’s a powerful step forward in our mission to deliver affordable, reliable energy to the communities we serve. The addition of Green Country strengthens our ability to provide stable, secure power to our customers, especially as energy needs continue to grow.
“Today represents a major step forward in our mission to serve our customers,” said Leigh Anne Strahler, PSO president and COO. “The Green Country Power Plant will play an important role in delivering reliable power to support Oklahoma homes and businesses while ensuring grid stability and supporting the state’s economic growth.”
Beyond enhancing grid reliability, this acquisition brings meaningful local benefits. Increased tax revenue from the facility will directly support Tulsa County schools, public services, and job creation, a clear reflection of our ongoing commitment to the communities we call home.
