Youth sports are more than just games – they’re a launchpad for personal growth, confidence and lifelong skills.

The Benton Harbor Youth Sports Association strives to empower youth through comprehensive sports instruction that promotes physical fitness, emotional well-being and social-emotional growth. BHYSA provides a supportive and inclusive environment where children can build confidence, resilience and healthy habits.
“I am most excited about seeing the transformation that happens when kids find a safe, supportive environment to learn and grow,” said BHYSA Executive Director John C. Sams IV. “It is the smile when they get their first hit, the high-fives when they score a touchdown and the friendships that are formed across neighborhoods.”

Indiana Michigan Power works with BHYSA to remove barriers to participation, including covering fees for players and facilitating equipment upgrades and field improvements. The partnership helps ensure BHYSA athletes have a safe, fun experience, where they learn how much the community cares for them and believes in their potential.
“We have an important role in our community to provide opportunities that fuel the potential of youth and leave an impact that can significantly shape their futures,” said Mona Livingston, I&M Customer Service Manager. “We don’t take this responsibility lightly and strive to lead the charge in supporting valuable experiences for our next generation of leaders.”
BHYSA offers baseball, softball, tee-ball, girls’ basketball, soccer and flag football, along with athletic training and personal development programs.
With BHYSA, kids gain tools to succeed on and off the field.
