AEP Issues Summer '99 Energy RFP

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Jan. 13, 1999 -- American Electric Power Service Corporation, acting as agent for the AEP System companies, is seeking proposals for firm-peaking energy supplies to meet AEP System energy requirements during summer 1999. AEP is soliciting bids for physical megawatts delivered into the AEP system. The request is for proposals of up to 1,100 MW with a minimum bid size of 50 MW.
Bidders interested in submitting proposals under the solicitation are required to notify AEP of their intent to bid by completing a "Notice of Intent to Bid" form. Bidders will be required to submit this form no later than Jan. 28, 1999. The deadline for submission of proposals is Feb. 13, 1999. AEP will notify bidders in early March whether their offer was selected for the "short list." At that point, AEP will begin negotiations and final contract execution is slated for April 7, 1999.
