COLUMBUS, Ohio, Jan. 29, 1999 -- American Electric Power (NYSE:AEP) has elected Bill D'Onofrio and Dick Boyle to new posts in the regulatory arena. Effective Feb. 1, D'Onofrio, currently vice president - regulatory affairs, will be vice president - regulatory policy. Boyle, AEP’s Indiana/Michigan president, will move to vice president - regulatory services. Both will report to Andy Varley, senior vice president - energy pricing and regulatory services. "There are so many activities going on around the issue of industry restructuring that Bill D'Onofrio needs to devote his full efforts to that," Varley said. D'Onofrio will also track more closely the restructuring activities taking place in the four states served by Central and South West Corp., the Texas utility awaiting merger approval with AEP. CSW has operations in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Arkansas. In his new post, Boyle will be responsible for rate case management and fuel clause activities. Varley said that Boyle will divide his time between his new assignment and his duties as AEP's Indiana/Michigan president until a replacement is selected. "Dick is extremely well qualified to oversee rate case activities and the unbundling process we expect to go through in all our jurisdictions," Varley said. D'Onofrio began his career with the AEP System in 1972 as an administrative assistant for the Treasury staff and later served as vice president of Indiana Michigan Power Co. Boyle began working for Columbus & Southern Ohio Electric Co. in 1970 as an auditor and later was promoted to president and chief operating officer at Kentucky Power Co. AEP, a global energy company, is one of the United States' largest investor-owned utilities, providing energy to 3 million customers in Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. AEP has holdings in the United States, the United Kingdom, China and Australia. Wholly owned subsidiaries provide power engineering, energy consulting and energy management services around the world. The company is based in Columbus, Ohio. On Dec. 22, 1997, AEP announced a definitive merger agreement for a tax-free, stock-for-stock transaction with Central and South West Corp., a public utility holding company based in Dallas.
