Jones Joins AEP Energy Services As Senior Vice President
March 23, 1999•News Release
COLUMBUS, Ohio, March 23, 1999 -- Henry D. Jones will join AEP Energy Services Inc. May 1 as senior vice president, according to Paul D. Addis, president of AEP Energy Services.
AEP Energy Services, a subsidiary of American Electric Power (NYSE: AEP), markets and trades energy commodities and provides related services.
Jones, 38, will join AEP from Duke Energy Resource Management Company, where he was president. Duke Energy Resource Management Company is the corporate energy risk management unit of Duke Energy Corporation. Previously, Jones was vice president of risk management and energy trading of NGC Corporation (now Dynegy, Inc.).
In his new position, Jones will be responsible for establishing and managing AEP Energy Service’s European trading operations. AEP believes its success in the competitive U.S. commodity energy marketplace is replicable to the deregulating European energy marketplace, according to Addis.
“Hank’s breadth of experience will be a tremendous competitive advantage as we prepare to enter the European market,” Addis said. “We will be drawing on his natural gas and electricity trading experience and his energy asset valuation expertise.”
Jones earned his bachelor of science degree in marketing and his master’s in business administration from Oklahoma State University.
AEP, a global energy company, is one of the United States’ largest investor-owned utilities, providing energy to 3 million customers in Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. AEP has holdings in the United States, the United Kingdom, China and Australia. Wholly owned subsidiaries provide power engineering, energy consulting and energy management services around the world. The company is based in Columbus, Ohio.
On Dec. 22, 1997, AEP announced a definitive merger agreement for a tax-free, stock-for-stock transaction with Central and South West Corp., a public utility holding company based in Dallas.
