Tomasky was named one of the world’s “50 key women in energy” by Commodities Now magazine in association with consultant Linda Rader and corporate sponsors Accenture and Jacobs Consultancy.
She also placed first in the “visionary” category, one of five categories in which winners were selected. Visionaries are “the mighty explorers, ground breakers, expansionists,” according to an article in the December 2001 edition of Commodities Now, a global publication that covers commodities markets.
The article cites Tomasky’s role in completing the merger of AEP and Central and South West Corp., the reforms and efficiencies she instituted in AEP’s Legal Department as general counsel, and her leadership in the regulatory arena as general counsel of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
A ceremony for the honorees will be held Feb. 14 during the E-World of Energy international trade fair in Essen, Germany.
Tomasky advanced to her current position in September 2001. She joined AEP in 1998 as senior vice president and general counsel and served as executive vice president and general counsel before her current appointment. Tomasky was general counsel of the FERC from 1993-97 and also served as a partner with the Washington, D.C., office of Hogan & Hartson before joining AEP.
