COLUMBUS, Ohio, April 22, 2002 - American Electric Power (NYSE: AEP) will provide a live webcast of its annual meeting of shareholders, which begins at 9:30 a.m. EDT Tuesday, April 23. The meeting will be held at the Fawcett Center in Columbus.

The webcast, which will provide both audio and video from the meeting, will be available at http://www.aep.com/investors/webcasts/

The annual meeting comments by E. Linn Draper Jr., AEP’s chairman, president and chief executive officer, will be archived and be available for viewing at AEP’s web site after the meeting.
